The client

My role

Hairytale is a hair salon that was founded by three business partners, Isabel, Rachel, and Julia. With a shared passion for hairstyling and entrepreneurship, they pooled their resources and opened their first salon in a small downtown location. Through hard work and dedication, the salon is gaining popularity and they eventually expanded to a larger space in a more prominent location. Their success is drive by their unique approach to hairstyling and their commitment to exceptional customer service.
Currently, they need a new website to enhance their brand as they're growing in popularity, and they need to make a lasting impression for their customers.

As a UI designer for Hairytale, I'm responsible for creating a user interface that reflects the salon's brand and engages with their target audience. I work collaboratively with the salon's owners to understand their vision and values, and then use this information to design a visually attractive, user-friendly digital platform. My work includes creating wireframes, selecting fonts and colors, designing layouts, and ensuring that the platform is functional and easy to use. My ultimate goal is to create a digital experience that represents Hairytale's values and helps them to connect with their target audience.

The process

The first step is to create the wireframe. Based on the structure of the website and the pages & contents available, I outline the different sections of the landing page.

Now that I have the basic layout, I can use the appropriate fonts, colors, images, and other visual elements that align with the brand's identity and create a visually appealing interface. The main challenge was the use of the different colors, I had to balance them without overusing some. The rule of 60 30 10 was really useful for this project. I used Figma for the entierety of the project as well as Illustrator to create the logo and the visual elements. The wireframe was done on Krita.
